Kill! Maim! Board Control! Interview with Dylan Matousek, Who Finished 8th at a Major with World Eaters

My beautiful and spikey Chaos friends, I’ve got an extra special treat for you today. I had the pleasure of sitting down for a chat with Dylan Matousek, an experienced Veteran of the Long War.

Dylan recently finished 8th at a Major with pure World Eaters, one of the best finishes by a Chaos Space Marine player this year. Khorne cares not from where the blood flows, but it sure is a lot more fun when it is the other army’s blood flowing.

In this interview, we break down his list choices and how he played his army. As two of the top Chaos Space Marine players, we were able to dive really deep into the details and let our passion and knowledge of the faction shine through. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed recording it!

Main Takeaways

I highly recommend you watch the full interview so you can have fun with us and catch all the details, but here are a few quick takeaways that every fan can take away from Dylan and I’s discussion:

  • Stay mobile. Not being tied to a character’s buffs (in this case not bringing a Dark Disciple with the invuln prayer) gives you more flexibility to move around the board
  • You need something durable. You can’t go wrong with Contemptors and Leviathans in World Eaters. Kharn’s hit reroll bubble makes their shooting more reliable, and a Leviathan is basically the only Chaos Space Marine unit that can expose itself to enemy fire and expect to still be there next turn.
  • Control the board, don’t just kill them. Dylan brings extra Cultists and goes for more units of Raptors over a single big hammer unit to be able to get to more places at once.

Note: Excited to get your Chaos army on the tabletop? Me too! I’d love to work with you on making your fun or weird Chaos idea into a competitive list. 1. He finished 8th? With a Khorne army?

As much as Khorne might hate to admit it, It’s not only Tzeentch that plays with the strings of fate.
